History was made on September 22, 2010 with the creation of the World’s Largest King Cake!

The official World's Largest King Cake broke TWO Guinness World Records on September 22, 2010 and raised over $47,000 for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, New Orleans. The New Orleans Saints teamed up with family-owned Haydel’s Bakery to create two giant king cakes that wound around the Superdome. The outer king cake broke the original record held by a bakery in Houston, and the inner king cake broke the outer king cake's record.

Special thanks to our sponsors, our families and friends, and to our honored guests, Supriya Jindal, First Lady of Louisiana, Mrs. Cheryl Landrieu, Rita Benson LeBlanc, and the Lombardi Trophy.

It took from 11:00pm on 9/21/10 until 6:30am on 9/22/10 to finish both cakes. With Haydel’s employees and volunteers working through the night, the cakes were ready well ahead of the 12:00pm cutting ceremony.

Ryan Haydel and two volunteers begin to lay out the boxes of King Cake at 11:00pm on Tuesday, 9/21/10

By 12:00pm on 9/22/10 the crowd numbered in the thousands waiting to get their slice of history! It is estimated that over 6,000 people attended the event and ALL of the king cake was sold!

It's official!
